Cannabis Extraction with Cold Alcohol

Gather Your Materials

1. High-quality Cannabis
2. Filtration, such as a fine sieve, coffee filter, or cheesecloth.
3. Freezer-safe glass jars.
4. Something to decarboxylate your Cannabis: oven or decarb machine.
5. Jars and jar labels for the final product.

Recipe

1. Decarb your Cannabis and allow it to fully cool.
2. Buy an alcohol that is 80+ Proof. Which alcohol should you choose? That depends on which alcohol you enjoy drinking.
3. Use your coldest freezer to freeze the ethanol, the decarbed Cannabis, and the empty extraction jar separately. Leave in the freezer for 24 hours.
4. When ready, combine the ethanol and Cannabis—do not shake—and return it to the freezer for 20 minutes.
5. Bring out both the alcohol mixture and the empty extraction jar.
6. Use a coffee filter and coffee basket to strain alcohol from biomass.
7. Dump biomass into a second, pre-chilled container.
8. Add Cannabis to a new extraction jar with fresh alcohol. Place in the freezer for 12-24 hours.
9. Keep new alcohol and old biomass in the freezer for 24 hours with a new extraction vessel.
10. Bring out both the alcohol mixture and the empty extraction jar.
11. Use a coffee filter and coffee basket to strain alcohol from biomass.
12. Label jars clearly with the date and a Cannabis / THC warning
13. Use Cannabis mash (from your extractions) to make “I’m So High” tea.
14. Store in a cool, dark place for more extended storage.
